On Your Mark, Get Set, Crawl!

We caught the Bambina on film crawling last week!  Hooray!

She is so speedy.  I can't leave the room for a quick second anymore or, inevitably, she'll be exploring something that I'd rather she didn't.  Who even notices those doorstoppers with the marshmallow-like end on them?  Apparently they are quite interesting because she's frequently trying to get to one of them and, of course, the top comes off way too easily.  I never noticed how many there are-- they're everywhere.  She's like a little Pink Panther sleuth.  So much for being eager for more milestones! This girl is keeping me on my toes :-)

9 Months

Today, Miss Marvelous is 9 months old!!!

Marvelous, indeed.  The girlie has nearly mastered crawling.  She babbles with wild abandon-- "ball," "duck," bubbles," all without forgetting "dada" and "mama."  She's growing teeth, hair, and longer limbs.  I'm the mom, so brag I will.

Not only is she learning nonstop, but we are learning so much from her.  I saw this quote the other day and thought of the truth of it:

"A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for."

Thank you for making our futures that much more worth living for.  We love you so much, Little Girlie!
Happy Birthday to you!!!

A Nanny and Pap Weekend

The Girlie's Nanny and Pap came to visit this weekend and she had a blast showing them around her town!  Here are some highlights:

Storytime

Picnicking

Playing with her new birdhouse

Admiring the Potomac

Saying "hi" to her new friends

A fabulous time was had by all...

A Tooth Grows in Arlington

After much anticipation, a tooth is now visible in our Bambina's mouth!  Just barely visible.  We first spotted it around last Friday, though we weren't quite sure because she kept hiding it with her tongue.  Then we heard the telltale "clink" against a glass when she was taking a drink from mommy's cup and we knew something had arrived.  After much fanfare and clapping (she loves clapping!), we celebrated a bit more with a dance party.  More words for Daddy to create lyrics with!  Do you know how many words rhyme with tooth?

Pulling up, growing teeth, talking!  "Ball" is currently her favorite word.  And she is really getting around without technically crawling-- though sooo close.  She can do a push-up!  A real push-up!!  Not the push-up coined as a "girl push-up" (objectionable) but a legs out, all the way up push-up!  It's all part of her smooth crawling moves.

What does she have up her sleeve next?

Il Dio benedice gli "USA"

We've been having a splendid July 4th weekend!  (That's right, I said splendid.  Becoming a parent makes one feel more sophisticated.  And old.  So splendid just felt right.  Anyway...)  We are having a fantastic 4th celebrating in our Nation's capital!

The Girlie is now dreaming away in slumber after having viewed her first fireworks display.  I don't know what she liked better-- the pyrotechnics, or the rowdy/interesting/exceedingly "happy" people viewing them.  Ultimately, she loved it.  And I don't know what I liked better-- seeing the different colors of the display glow across her face, or waiting for her reaction to the whole scene.  Lovely...
